Red Giant Software was founded in 2002 by industry veterans to develop and distribute special effects tools for digital video & film professionals. Red Giant develops their own applications and also publishes other third party technologies. Their products are available as plug-ins for popular video editing and effects applications.
Red Giant is one of the first NetSuite sites to dynamically incorporate WSDK with their external servers. Red Giant's core lives outside of NetSuite where the entire shopping experience is contained. Once a user adds items to the cart they are then passed to NetSuite's secured servers. This gives Red Giant maximum flexibility in terms of presenting their store the way they want to and optimizing their security and integration by using NetSuite for the backend checkout process.
Explore also developed a SuiteScript solution for Red Giant Software, whose software products require the delivery of a license key to the customer following order processing. These license keys are generated in an external key authentication system. Explore designed and developed a SuiteFlex solution using SuiteScripts and custom records to store and deliver the license keys. Red Giant customers now receive an email with the license keys within minutes after their orders are received. Red Giant employees are now able to easily view license keys associated with a sales order, customer, or item.

NetSuite Software License Key Management
Background: Software development company Cycling '74 recently released the newest version of Max, their interactive programming environment for music, audio and media. Cycling '74 uses NetSuite to manage all of their day-to-day sales, accounting and customer service tasks, so utilizing this familiar platform for the management of serial keys for the latest Max release was an easy choice.
The Max/MSP/Jitter package has been in use by Cycling '74 customers for over 20 years, and the long anticipated release of Max 5 garnered a significant amount of interest in the music community.
Issue: Max 5 introduced a new methodology for the generation, management and authentication of serial keys that required seamless integration with Cycling '74's existing NetSuite account and web store. Orders for Max 5 needed to be automatically issued new, unique serial keys, capable of identifying and authenticating a specific copy of Max 5 and any accompanying add-on products. These serial keys also needed to be synchronized with Cycling '74's new license authentication server.
Solution: Explore Consulting worked intimately with Cycling '74 to design and develop an automated serial key management solution. The design utilized a combination of NetSuite's SuiteFlex platform and a custom serial key generation and synchronization application built on the Microsoft .NET framework. Orders placed via Cycling '74's NetSuite web store are automatically placed into an external database queue and are processed by a rules engine where new serial keys are created and stored in NetSuite custom records and then sent out to the new, Max 5 authentication server.
Results: The solution developed by Explore Consulting now allows completely seamless management of Max 5 serial keys for Cycling '74 with automation processes utilizing both NetSuite and several custom applications. Software orders entered into the Cycling '74 NetSuite web store are now automatically billed and fulfilled including the activation and delivery of license keys. The customers receive their license keys nearly instantly after purchase. In addition, the customer service agents at Cycling '74 are able to easily access and manage software license keys for thousands of customers within NetSuite.

Auto-Generated Numbering by Subsidiary for Transactions
With NetSuite's OneWorld, each subsidiary can have a unique numbering sequence for transactions.
Some tax regulations require that entities each have their own distinct- and complete- sequential transaction numbers. Aside from tax implications, users can become confused if each subsidiary does not use their own series of numbers.
For example: Subsidiary USA posts three sales orders and Subsidiary CAN posts three sales orders. By default, these transactions will be ordered sequentially, regardless of the subsidiary that created them. This can lead to "gaps" for each subsidiary:
By enabling auto-generated numbers on a subsidiary-by-subsidiary basis, we can ensure there are consistent numbering schemes between subsidiaries, eliminating gaps and providing consistency:
To configure this in your NetSuite OneWorld Account:
1. Navigate to Setup > Company > Subsidiary, and click "Edit" next to each subsidiary;
2. If implementing auto-generated numbers by subsidiary, it is recommended that you enter a Transaction Prefix for every subsidiary;
3. Navigate to Setup > Company > Auto-Generated Numbers > Transactions Subtab, and check the "Use Subsidiary" checkbox for each transaction type for which you wish to have subsidiary-specific numbering.
